Block Heater May Overheat and Cause Fire

An overheated engine block heater increases the risk of a fire.

Dealers will replace the block heater element and inspect the electrical cord, replacing it if necessary, free of charge. Interim letters, notifying owners of the safety risk, are expected to be mailed October 20, 2025. Additional letters will be sent once the final remedy is available, anticipated February 2026. Hazardous liquids may leak onto people near the tank, increasing the risk of injury.
